About Freeciv

Freeciv is an open-sourced, turnbased strategy game where players control a civilization which they try to ensure manage to explore and colonize the unknown world, manage to maintain it's economy, diplomacy with neighbors as well as war when necessary and most important of all, to manage to develop the knowledge of one's population by researching revolutionizing discoveries like pottery, bridge building, refrigeration and nuclear power etc, trying to outrun the other player in the technology race.

In my opinion, this is a well written and well designed strategy game which even have a decent AI which makes the game fun even as a single player. Well worth a download and a tryout!

About Longturn

Freeciv normally is played online with a handful of players who play the game more or less uninterrupted until a winner is determined. Longturn is a bit different, there are a lot of players and they are not constantly online, but instead they log in to their country, do their moves and stuff and then log out. The tricky thing is that Freeciv is not fully optimized for this kind of longturn playing, but my plan is to coerce the game to work as a longturn game anyway (others has done it before).

Who Participates

Right now, as I plan to host my first Longturn game (a task which in itself is an experiment as I'm a newbie on this), I only invite various people I know and that I know already are gamers.
