To make a short story even shorter (and potentially unreadable):

This is again a case of one of those links to the left that I really don't need and has not had time to remove from the default Mediawiki setup.

'Current events' could, perhaps, be available in my blog but as of this writing, I seriously doubt it. But, 'as of this writing' might be quite distant in time from 'as of your reading of this' (I might be updating this site infrequently, remember?), so following that blog link might actually provide some 'current events' of mine.
